First off I am not a huge fan of stick foundations, I personally love liquid foundations because I feel that they look better on the skin, but despite my personal bias, I decided to test out this foundation anyway. I put this foundation to the test, so if you want to find out whether I love it or leave it, keep reading…
The Hourglass Vanish Semaless Finish Foundation is:
“A revolutionary foundation stick with the coverage of a concealer, the fluidity of a liquid, and the weightlessness of a powder in a longwearing waterproof formula for undetectable full coverage. The unprecedented concentration of pigment in this foundation provides maximum coverage with minimum product, concealing all discoloration and imperfections for flawless skin with a seamless finish.”
First, let me mention that the Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation comes in 26 Shades, which range in undertone, which is a major plus! I used the shade Almond, which has a cool undertone and the shade ended up working perfectly for me (because I just returned from vacation with an island glow, but none of my foundations matched me, and I do mean NONE).
At first I was a bit nervous because I originally thought that since this foundation is in a stick form, I would have to pile the foundation on to get the coverage I needed, but I was proven wrong. I started off by applying four lines to the cheek and blended slowly with the Hourglass Foundation Brush; the application was so smooth and the foundation spread like a dream. Once on my skin, the Hourglass foundation felt like I had nothing on which is a major plus for me because nothing is worse than walking around with a foundation that feels heavy. The finish of the Vanish Seamless Foundation has the perfect finish; not too dewy, but not too matte, which I love! Matte foundations tend to emphasize my dry spots and dewy foundations tend to look to oily on my skin so this foundation was the perfect mix of the two which made me very excited.
If you prefer a lighter coverage, this foundation will work for you, but what is even better is that this product is very buildable. I felt as though I had started off with a light coverage that was just right for me but I decided to add more product to see how much coverage I could get and if it would look cakey or not, needless to say the foundation did not look cakey at all. I took photos in the foundation, which you will see at the bottom of this post, but for more, I posted a Silver Glitter Cut Crease look using this foundation.
Another positive fact about the Hourglass Seamless Foundation is that, the stick can be used in three ways, as a foundation, concealer, highlight or contour. I did not use this as a highlight or contour, but I did use this product as a concealer underneath my eyes and I did not feel as though it dried out my under-eye area or creased.
As for the cons, the Vanish Seamless Foundation is advertised as being able to last up to 12 hours, but by hour 7, I do feel like the foundation noticeably disappeared (for lack of better terms) from the face; I would like to mention that I did not use a primer. Also, I am very hesitant about the price. Even though it did not take a lot of product in order to cover my face and provide me with a flawless finish, I do feel like for $46, .25oz is not enough. Personally, if I was shopping for a new foundation, I would put it back if I saw the price compared to the amount of product in the container.
As far as the brush, the bristles are so soft and I love that it is quite small and compact, making it a great product to put in your makeup bag. I do however feel that this brush is not necessity, especially for the price. I’ve used cheaper brushes that provide the same results and $46 is a bit pricy in my opinion.
Overall, this is now one of my favorite foundations, which I am honestly quite shocked that I love this foundation so much because as I mentioned above, I tend to gravitate towards liquid foundations. What really sold me on the product is the way that the foundation blended into my skin and felt like I wasn’t even wearing foundation. Long story short, I know it is a bit pricy, but I absolutely choose to
