A Uncensored Review – Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint

Rihanna is back at it again! Fenty beauty has released their first liquid lipstick and you guessed it, it’s red. If you’re a fan of Rihanna, then you know red truly is no surprise. We’re all dying to know, is The Stunna Lip Paint the best red liquid lipstick on the market and flatters every skin tone? Let’s find out.

``A weightless, 12hr liquid lipstick with a soft matte finish - born in one head-turning red shade that looks incredible on all skin tones``. - Fenty Beauty

The Stunna Lip Paint, in the shade Uncensored, is described as a beautiful bright red that is perfect for every single skin tone…every last one. With a soft matte finish, the formula is said to be weightless and can survive 12 hours of wear that requires no maintenance. Meaning you can eat lunch, kiss your boyfriend/girlfriend, basically live your best life without having to touch it up. Uncensored is cruelty free, which is a major plus because no one truly likes testing animals in a lab just for makeup… right? The Stunna Lip paint is available for purchase for $24 at Sephora, in stores and online, Harvey Nicols, Fenty

The only instruction given was to make sure to shake before use. The reasoning behind this is, the liquid lip is a hyper intense pigment, and needs to be activated. This is pretty typical for most liquid lipsticks on the market and really no serious amount of effort is required to shake the container so, no big deal. We can do that.

``The perfect red is hard to get right, and it's really hard to find YOUR red that works on your skin tone.`` - Fenty Beauty

When I first saw pictures of the container I was thought to myself “oh hell no, $24 for THAT small container, it’s a no for me”. However when I saw it in person I felt a bit of relief. For one, it’s not as small as it looks and two, it doesn’t take much to cover the lips (there is .13 oz/ 4 fl oz of product in case you were wondering). I also love the wand. I have never seen anything like this on the market and with the wand being small with a tiny point, I was able to create a very clean application, and could apply this without lip liner.

Upon application, the first thing I noticed was how comfortable Stunna felt on the lips. One of the reasons I tend to shy away from liquid matte lipsticks, is because I hate the feeling of my lips getting tight and the product crumbling off during the day. With this product, I didn’t feel like my lips even had anything on.

Plus One for Rihanna, I mean…Fenty

Okay moving on. I loved the way this looked on my lips, however it has an orangey –red tone and I honestly was expecting a blue-toned red. Will everyone benefit from an orangey based red? I’m not sure, however it worked for me, so this comes down to personal preference. If you want to know how it looked on me, see the 5 Steps to the Perfect Liquid Lipstick Application post.

My only problem with this product is that I got it smeared everywhere. I took a selfie after applying, and found it on the back of my phone. It isn’t truly transfer proof which makes me want to throw the claims of low maintenance and 12 hour wear completely out the window, which was quite disappointing.

I think that the Stunna Lip paint is a beautiful shade I just really wished it was more of a true red and not an orange based red, but that’s my personal preference. I’m obsessed with the formula, it’s one of the best I’ve tried, but it isn’t transfer proof, which makes me a bit disappointed. With that being said, I do understand that that’s a tough shoe to fill, as most of the liquid lipsticks I own do transfer to some degree.

I recommend this product if:

01. finding a good liquid lipstick formula has been difficult for you

02. you are a fan of orange-based reds

03. a little transfer doesn’t bother you.

I also recommend, applying the Stunna Lip Paint with a liner and setting with a bit of powder, as I find this helped minimize the budging.

I do not recommend this product if:

01. you are not a fan of orangey-red lipsticks

02. lipstick that transfers a bit bothers you

Have you tried the Stunna Lip Paint?

I haven’t tried this yet! I’m thinking about it though. Sounds like a good one 🙂
